1911Day nursery started at 382 Rideau Street
1920 Incorporated as The Ottawa Day Nursery Inc
1932 Present building at 195 George Street built and donated by Mrs. A.W. Fleck in memory of her husband
1967 Building at 185 George Street rented from the City for Before-and-After-School Program and Headstart Program
1968 Country Bound Summer Day Camp started in Gatineau Park
1969 Family Day Care demonstration project started with financial support from the Department of Health and Welfare
1970 Name changed to Andrew Fleck Child Centre
1973 Kindergarten Child Care Program started at 185 George Street
1982 Child Care Information program created
1986 Family Day Care south branch office and Resource Centre opened
1987 Short Term Child Care Program created
1990 Employee Child Care Assistance Program launched
Multicultural Enrichment Program for immigrant caregivers created
1991 Children’s Integration Support Services created
Four O.D.A.M.R. segregated preschool programs transferred to Andrew Fleck Child Care Services for eventual closure
Name changed to Andrew Fleck Child Care Services
1993-94 Child Care Centre at 195 George Street underwent major renovations
1994 Work and Family Partnerships program (formerly the Employee Child Care Assistance Program) restructured and expanded
1996 Last of four O.D.A.M.R. segregated preschool closed; funding transferred to Children’s Integration Support Services
1998 Official French Language Designation received for Child Care Information and Children’s Integration Support Services
  School Age Program started at Riverview Alternative School
 The research report, “Emergency Child Care: Its Impact, Practice and
Innovation - A Canadian Story”
published.
2000 Francophone Centralized Waiting List pilot project initiated
2001 Funded by CIDA to provide child care training in Argentina
  Work and Family Partnerships Program changed its name to Child Care Consulting Services
2002 Ontario Early Years Centre opened in Ottawa South
  Thursday’s Child Nursery School became a program of Andrew Fleck Child Care Services
  Home Child Care Accreditation Pilot Project initiated with five partner organizations
in Ontario
  Speaker’s Bureau launched
2003 Legal name officially changed to Andrew Fleck Child Care Services
 Behaviour management manual “Intervene Before Reacting: A Positive
Integrated Approach to Behaviour in the Child Care Environment”
launched
2004 Play-yard at 195 George Street underwent major redevelopment
2005 Centralized Waiting List developed for all licensed child care centres and
home child care programs in the city
2006 A Kindergarten and School Age Program for 50 children started at the Stittsville Public School
2007 The Annex Building at 185 George Street was demolished and construction began for a new purpose designed building with major capital funding from the City of Ottawa.
  The AFCCS web site was updated and revamped.
2008 The new facilities at 185 George Street were completed in September and named the Elsie Chan Building. It accommodates 15 toddlers and 16 preschoolers
